Multiplying Leadership: The Future Instructor Training Group (October 2024)
In September 2024, I sent a highly targeted invitation to a hand-picked selection of my most dedicated students. The goal was to establish an exclusive, weekly "Future Instructor Training" (F.I.T.) group at the KMB Dojo.
The motivation behind this initiative was twofold. First, to continually sharpen my own saw, I needed highly proficient, driven training partners. Second, and more importantly, I wanted to create a leadership pipeline. True impact isn't just about how many people you can teach directly; it is about cultivating a ripple effect - elevating individuals to a standard where they can confidently protect others and pass on the exact same high-quality methodology.
While our weekly dojo sessions focused on meticulously drilling the KMI syllabus and analyzing real-world footage, the undisputed highlight of the following year became our monthly "Special Sessions." We deliberately took the training out of the highly controlled dojo environment and subjected our mechanics to environmental stress testing.
Throughout 2025, we navigated the claustrophobia of basements and narrow stairwells, tackled the complex hazards of train platforms, and analyzed pre- and post-assault behaviors around vehicles in dark parking lots. We integrated parkour basics for efficient escape routes and stress-tested our decision-making under severe disorientation using strobe lights and total darkness. Everything was strictly documented to track our tactical evolution.
This group has become the beating heart of KMB’s internal standard. The dedication of these practitioners is extraordinary, and it is already bearing fruit: As you will read in an upcoming post, this very crucible recently produced Krav Maga Berlin’s next officially certified instructor.
