Building the Legacy: Mentorship and Global Leadership (July 2024)
Following my transformative time in Tel Aviv in 2023, I found a true professional "tribe" within Krav Maga Israel (KMI) - a global network of independent, elite instructors united under the leadership of Ron Engelman. In July 2024, I traveled to Munich to support Ron during his first-ever Instructor Camp in Germany.
What began as an attendance quickly evolved into an active leadership role. I had the privilege of acting as Ron’s right hand, coordinating camp logistics and leading training segments for the advanced instructor cohort. Acknowledging the depth of my prior experience and skill set, Ron awarded me my Brown Belt. It was an accelerated promotion, but a deeply humbling validation of the foundation I have built over the past decade. Shortly after the camp, I was officially inducted into KMI’s inner circle, taking on mentoring responsibilities and joining their global roster as a Senior Instructor, representing Germany alongside an elite team from Israel, the US, Japan, Australia, the UK, and Spain.
However, my proudest moment of the entire camp had nothing to do with my own achievements. It was watching my student, Jon, successfully pass his rigorous instructor exam.
As a coach, it is easy to hand out titles to your own students. But true quality assurance requires objective, external validation. I deliberately wanted Jon to be tested by an uncompromising global authority like Ron Engelman. Seeing Jon earn his certification under those intense conditions was the ultimate proof of his hard work, and a profound confirmation of the high-performance standard we uphold at Krav Maga Berlin.
This camp marked a definitive shift from mastering the system to actively shaping its future - a mission that will continue as we decided to officially co-host the next international KMI camp right here in Berlin.
